Florianópolis: Lunch at Restaurante da Família

I have to say that I consume this kind of content I write here on the blog. When I'm planning a trip I always search for information in travel blogs and I have some favorites. These blogs are in Portuguese, because my recent trips where here in Brazil, so it's easier to find information in my mother tongue. But in these blogs I don't read only the posts about the places I'm planing to go soon, sometimes I read posts about other countries, because I like it. I find it inspirational. OK, what am I trying to say with all that? That, in these blogs, Brazilian people are always complaining that in Europe, mostly, there isn't this type of buffet per kilo self service restaurant, which they consider much cheaper.

So, I present you, one of the advantages of traveling to Brazil—the cheapest restaurants. Hahahaha. I'm saying this based in what I read around, because I've been to Europe already, but I don't remember the deal about the restaurants. One thing is true, this self service per kilo buffet is not something common around there, at least where I have been.

Restaurante da Família, for me, is kinda fancy. There are always many and different options there. To be exact there are 80 dishes options including salad, like broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, tomato. Sometimes there are also dips like hummus and baba ghanoush. Actually, it's difficult to write about the dishes, because every time they are different.  But the foods they serve every time are rice, beans, the salads I mentioned above, filet mignon with some sauce, fried fish, fried chicken, salmon and pork.

The food there is delicious and it's always hard to choose what to eat, because I want a piece of everything. From Monday to Friday the buffet costs R$ 49,80 (US$ 13.48) per kilo and on Saturdays R$ 57,80 (US$ 15.65) per kilo. Well, I particularly think this is expensive, it depends how hungry you are. But once I spent R$ 38,00 (US$ 10.29) at this place, in only one plate. Because I was hungry and because I put a little of everything in my plate and in the end it was a lot. So now I pay more attention when I go and I recommend you to do the same.

The advantage of go to a restaurant like this is that probably everyone will have something to eat. Although I don't think this is the best place for a vegetarian.
